Our Company

The AnorTech team has almost two decades of experience exploring, permitting and building mines in Greenland. R&D projects are underway to produce green waste-free alumina and CO2 free cement from anorthosite. The Company expects to initiate a program in 2024 to research thermal energy storage systems, utilizing anorthosite. AnorTech will use the results from the R&D programs to attract global industry leaders to jointly advance each technology for commercialization.

AnorTech has a 5% carried interest on the Sarfartoq rare earth element project in Greenland, partnered with Neo North Star Resources. The Sarfartoq carbonatite project hosts an advanced rare earth element project rich in neodymium and praseodymium which are the key elements in permanent magnets. 

AnorTech currently has over $3M in cash and a very low burn rate.

Management and R&D Team

  • Chief Financial Officer

    Sam has a diverse business background and over 25 years of public company experience in industrial sectors including resources, petrochemicals, technology, and transportation. Sam also has extensive international hands on management experience in senior financial, commercial, and operational roles in companies with market capitalization ranging from $10 million to $2 billion, including 11 years with Methanex Corporation. Sam brings over 10 years of CFO experience in managing publicly listed companies on the TSX, TSXV, and the NYSE-MKT. Sam has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, and obtained his CA designation while articling with KPMG.

  • Metallurgical Consultant

    Mr. Goode is responsible for the metallurgical testwork programs for the production of alumina from the Gronne Bjerg anorthosite. John provided design, monitoring and interpretation of all previous alumina testwork for Hudson Resources as well as for the Sarfartoq REE project where Anortech retains a 5% interest. John graduated from the Royal School of Mines, London University, where he obtained a B.Sc. (Chemical Engineering in Metallurgy). He has over 50 year’s experience as a metallurgist.

    Jim has over 35 years international project management and development experience in the mineral exploration, consulting, and engineering industries with a focus on Arctic projects, including 18 years in Greenland. He has held senior positions with engineering firms AMEC and Bateman. He was Co-Founder of Mongolian exploration company QGX Ltd., which was acquired for $300 million in 2008. He served as the Honourary Consul for Mongolia for eight years. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from the University of Western Ontario.

    David has considerable experience in global industrial minerals sales having spent over 30 years with Sibelco, one of the world’s largest industrial minerals companies. He was based in Belgium as Senior Vice President of marketing and sales for Europe, Russia, the Middle East and North Africa and more recently, was Chief Commercial Officer of Unimin North America, a division of Sibelco. In this position he was responsible for all aspects of product applications, sales, marketing and customer relationships for a wide range of mineral products serving many of the markets that have shown significant interest in Hudson’s GreenSpar product. He is presently Executive Vice President of High Roller Sand responsible for the business strategy, marketing and sales of that company and was recently president of Industrial Minerals of CT, LLC, an executive advisor for global industrial mineral markets.

    Ms. Phillips has over thirty years of professional experience in business with particular focus in the areas of finance, corporate planning, land negotiations, business development, government relations, stakeholder/community relations and Indigenous negotiations in the energy industry. Ms. Phillips has a deep understanding Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) and the role of ESG through her relationships with Indigenous Peoples. She completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program and is the holder of the Institute of Corporate Directors Director designation (ICD.D).

    Ms. Phillips is Vice‐Chair of the Board of Directors for Geoscience BC. She is President of the Petroleum Acquisition and Divestiture Association (PADA). In addition, she is a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Society of Unconventional Resources (CSUR). Ms. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina, a CPA CMA certification and the ICD.D.

    Dr. Antony (Tony) Harwood is an economic geologist with 35 years of international exploration and mining experience focused on “green” and “battery” metals (REE’s & lithium), gold and base metals. Dr. Harwood was a founder and appointed President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Montero Mining & Exploration Ltd. in 2009 and took the company to IPO on the TSX-V in 2011 exploring for REE and lithium. Previous to this, Dr. Harwood was the President and CEO of Africo Resources Ltd. Dr. Harwood served as Vice President of Placer Dome Inc. for 8 years, a major Canadian mining company before its acquisition by Barrick Gold Corp.

    Dr. Harwood graduated from the University of Wales, College Cardiff, with a B.Sc. (Hons) cum laude and Ph.D. in Economic Geology.

    Mr. Crawford is a retired executive who was the Chairman of the board at SCR-Sibelco, a global (3.2 billion Euro) industrial minerals company based in Belgium (and parent company of U.S.-based Unimin Corporation) until 2016. Since becoming CEO of Sibelco, Mr. Crawford helped create one of the world’s largest industrial minerals companies with over 200 operations in 40 countries, more than 10,000 employees and over 3.2 billion Euros in revenues. Prior to becoming the Chairman, Mr. Crawford held several executive positions with Sibelco, including Group CEO. Mr. Crawford is currently sits on the board of Connor Investor Services, Inc, a private investment advisory firm in Wyomissing, PA, with close to US$1 billion under management.

    Mr. Crawford obtained his MBA, with distinction, from Pace university and holds a BBA, Accounting, cum laude, with Niagara University.
